PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) — Organizers of the Blue Water Film Festival in Port Huron say they don't expect the event to take place this year.
Festival executive director Jeremy Stemen tells the Times Herald of Port Huron (http://bwne.ws/1irANaq ) that he plans to continue looking to the future with hopes of bringing back the event bigger and better.
In a statement, the festival's board said additional staff and volunteers, more financial independence and an increase in festival attendance were needed.
The festival started in 2009 and showcased the work of Michigan and Canadian filmmakers along with Michigan natives. It also gave out the Golden Mitten Award to current or former Michigan residents who have made a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.
