SAGINAW, Mich. (AP) — Many employees at TRW Automotive's braking facility in Saginaw have spent their last day of work at the plant which is shutting down production.
Company spokesman John Wilkerson tells The Saginaw News (http://bit.ly/1bSrhIn ) Friday in an email that "some shipments of products to customers will continue next week, and work to decommission the site will continue for the next few months."
TRW Automotive supplies automotive parts ranging from airbags to braking systems. It announced the closing in December, saying the plant was unsuccessful in gaining new business.
The closing affects about 600 jobs.
Some workers, like 35-year-old Michael Sangster, said Friday that they still were seeking other good-paying jobs.
Sangster spent 14 years at the plant and said he and others "want to continue to make living wages."
