MONROE, Mich. (AP) — A wintry mix of freezing rain, snow and sleet is falling across parts of Michigan's Lower Peninsula and blizzard conditions are forecast in parts of the Upper Peninsula.
The National Weather Service says fog also is expected to create potential hazards on Thursday, followed by winds near 50 mph on Thursday night in the southeastern part of the state. Melting snow and rain could cause flooding in areas where temperatures are above freezing.
High winds are expected to continue into Friday.
In the northern Lower Peninsula, a mix of rain, freezing rain and snow is expected. Colder weather is forecast for the weekend.
A strong storm hitting other parts of the Midwest is expected to bring 9 to 13 inches of snow in parts of the Upper Peninsula through Friday.
