“We sell the world’s most efficient gas furnace,” said president Bob Ruonavaara of the TRANE XV95 heating system. “It’s rated with up to 96.7 percent AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency). That means only 3.3 cents of every dollar is going out the chimney.”
Some gas furnaces are 60 percent AFUE, he said. That means 40 cents of every dollar is going out the chimney.
Bob’s Sheet Metal, located at 1001 Ethel Ave. in Hancock, also carries TRANE brand air conditioning systems, heat pumps and boilers. TRANE XV95 furnaces are backed by an industry-leading 15-year warranty on parts and labor.
Bob said their Comfort Consultant, Tom Ruonavaara, can assist customers with options for home heating systems.
“He can show them several options on how to save money on fuel,” he said. “He can come and take a look at the size of the house, and the duct system, to see what size furnace would be their best option.”
While a large portion of their work load involves furnace & Air Conditioner replacements, Bob said they do complete heating & cooling systems for new homes and businesses as well.
Bob’s Sheet Metal recently took on a new line of geothermal heating and cooling systems by Hydron Module. The Hydron Module is a highly efficient ground source heat pump for heating or cooling the home.
“For those who live on the outskirts, where you don’t have natural gas, the operating cost of a geothermal system is equivalent to the operating cost of natural gas,” Bob said.
Last week, Byron Ruonavaara and Tom were in Minneapolis for further training on the new geothermal units.
Bob said the service techs receive ongoing training in the business, to keep up with technology. And from the dozens of framed certificates hanging on the office walls, it’s obvious the guys at Bob’s Sheet Metal are good at what they do.
For three years in a row, Bob’s Sheet Metal was voted the best heating/cooling contractor by the readers of The Daily Mining Gazette.
“That’s because of all the training,” Bob said.
Additional products and services include: outdoor and indoor boilers, in-floor heat, baseboard radiation, split system air conditioning units and wood add-on furnaces that connect to the existing duct work.
Tom describes Bob’s Sheet Metal as being a “total home comfort business.”
“It’s dealing with indoor air quality, heating and cooling,” he said. “We’re humidifying the air in the winter and dehumidifying the air in the summer. And for the allergy sufferers TRANE has the CLEAN EFFECTS air cleaner.”
Bob said TRANE’S FRESH EFFECTS air exchangers exchange the air in the home without compensating the comfort in the home.
“We have affordable heating & cooling systems to fit your budget and we also have financing available “ he said.
Three premier lines of gas and wood stoves and fireplaces, including Napoleon, HearthStone and Jotul, can also be found at the Hancock business.
Bob’s Sheet Metal is family owned and operated. Bob said he’s been in business for more than 20 years. His goal, at first, was to do the sheet metal work with mechanical contractors on commercial jobs. Over time, he realized the bread and butter of the business was working with homeowners and light commercial jobs, and, he enjoys that aspect of his work.
“You get a lot of satisfaction from happy customers,” he said. “When we get a call from a customer whose house is cold, we send over our service technicians to fix it. There’s a lot of satisfaction in that.”
Customers who purchase a TRANE Total Comfort System before May 29 can receive up to $1,200 in mail-in rebates. For more information, call Bob’s Sheet Metal at 482-6411.
