Bert Isaac Frusti
LAURIUM — Bert Isaac Frusti, 80, a resident of First St., Laurium, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, Wis. following a short illness.
He was born on August 17, 1927 in Vahakyro, Finland. A son of the late Anne I. (Bagge) and M. Emil Frusti, he came with his family from Finland to America on February 20, 1929, first residing in Calumet. Since 1964, he had made his home in Laurium. He attended the Calumet Public Schools and later, completed a Carpenter Trade School in Plainwell, Mich.
He was employed by various local contractors, Quincy Mining Company and Michigan Tech Carpenters and Building Maintenance for 17 years, retiring in 1990.
On February 15, 1964, he married the former Donna Mae James in the National Lutheran Church in Calumet.
He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the U.S. Army in Germany.
Bert was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Laurium, the VFW Post 3900 of Calumet and Laurium and the CLK Sportsman Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Laurie and Paavo John.
Surviving are his wife, Donna; three sons, Rev. Todd I. (Lisa) Frusti of Davison, Mich., Jay D. (Marcy) Frusti of Negaunee, Keith J. (Brooke) of Chatham, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Emma, Cailin, Gretchen, Nathan, Matthew, Kyle, Benjamin and Logan; two brothers, Paul (Mildred) Frusti of Westland, Mich., Hjalmer (Ann) of Hancock; two sisters, Bertha (Paul) Kauppila of Kohler, Wis., Helen Helenbart of Marshall, Mich.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Laurium with Rev. James Fundum to officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home on Thursday, May 8, from 5 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
