Robbery suspect at large
By KELLY FOSNESS, DMG WriterL’ANSE — Officers from the L’Anse Village Police Department are investigating a robbery that occurred at a private residence in L’Anse early this morning.
According to L’Anse Village Police Chief Mike LaBerge, the department was notified by The Michigan State Police’s Regional Dispatch in Negaunee Township shortly after 3 a.m. regarding a home invasion in Chaudieres trailer park. Upon arrival, officers met with an 86-year-old female victim who said she was confronted by the suspect in her home, who demanded money.
“It was a break-in,” LaBerge said. “Her home was locked.”
The victim, LaBerge said, was assaulted and suffered minor injuries.
“She did not want to go to the hospital,” he said.
LaBerge said the suspect fled with a large sum of money. He declined to comment on how much cash was taken.
Officers declined toprovide more information regarding the suspect or details of the incident until the investigation is complete.
