ALLOUEZ — Dorothy Juntunen, 80, a resident of the Houghton County Medical Care Facility, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008.
She was born on September 9, 1927, in Laurium, a daughter of the late William and Delia (Haataja) Nara. Dorothy attended Calumet High School.
She was married to Daniel Juntunen in December of 1945 and he preceded her in death on November 10, 1992.
Dorothy was born and raised in the Copper Country and after her marriage to Dan, they lived in Dearborn Heights, Florida, and on the Juntunen family farm on Airport Road. In 1995, she moved to Allouez to live with her sister, Muriel.
Dorothy was a member of the Northwoods Christian Assembly Church in Calumet and an active church member in past churches she attended during her life. She was also a past counselor at Gitche Gumee Bible Camp in Eagle River.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; and a sister, June Zeiback.
Surviving are a son, Dennis (Mona) Juntunen of Painesdale; daughter, Judy Czanota of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; four grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, J. Thomas and Janet; one great-grandchild, Mariah; and a sister, Muriel Stimac of Allouez.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Northwoods Christian Assembly Church in Calumet with Rev. Ken Toth to officiate.
Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
