CHASSELL — For the 33 years that Bill and Nancy Leonard have owned the Einerlei, one can safely say that each year has seen change in the popular retail establishment. And that, according to the owners, is a good thing.
“Change in product mix, change in presentation, and change in promotion keeps our customers interested, and us, too!” says Nancy.
And as far as keeping up to date is concerned, “Going green is nothing new for us,” says Bill. “We’ve always recycled as much as possible. We use recycled or at least recyclable materials whenever possible and will continue to search for even more ways to reduce and re-use.”
The 4,000 square-feet of shopping space at the Einerlei rambles from room to room and even up to a spacious second story overlooking the gardens. Product mix caters to life style and gift giving and many couples choose to register at the Einerlei for that very reason.
Natural fiber clothing, fashionable and yet reasonably priced, has been a mainstay. Fashion accessories created by small design houses, including handbags, scarves, and hats have recently been added. Jewelry, much of it locally- or regionally-designed has been a part of that fashion mix for years.
Local and regional books are offered year round. The Einerlei features local and regional artists and authors monthly and a calendar of special events, is available at the store and online.
Over the years, the Einerlei has grown to include the new interests of customers and the owners. The kitchen gourmet room features an ever-changing offering of cookbooks, kitchen gadgets, TAG dinnerware and linens, and linens by April Cornell. Gift baskets, custom made to the customer’s wishes, are available for any occasion.
The perennial gardens offer both the gardener a non-gardener a place to ponder plantings. In spring and early summer, perennial flowering plants, container plants, hanging gardens, and a wide variety of herbs are featured in the greenhouse and gazebo.
Books on gardening and decorative objects including wind chimes and rain gauges are part of the lifestyle mix.
The Einerlei is known for its great collection of greeting cards and notecards. A Christmas room features holiday cards, ornaments, and linens. And for the home, the shopper will find beautiful linens, unique decorative objects, and upscale table and dinnerware. Customers will find popular personal care products, including the Thymes line and Ahava.
Gift cards are now available in any amount. The Einerlei is open year-round. Summer and fall hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Customers can shop on line at www.einerlei.com or email orders and requests to firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information, call 906-523-4612.
