Don T. Wuorinen

PAINESDALE - Don T. Wuorinen, 55, a resident of Painesdale, died at his home early Wednesday morning, July 16, 2008, following a short illness.

He was born on June 13, 1953, in Hancock, a son of Benhart "Benny" and Leona (Mikkola) Wuorinen and was a 1971 graduate of Jeffers High School.

Following graduation, he entered the military, serving with the U.S. Army.

On December 28, 1985, he married the former Terry J. Taavola in Painesdale.

Donny worked for 34 years in construction for various companies, including Bacco Construction Co., Mattila Construction Company, and for the past 12 years worked as a heavy equipment operator for Payne & Dolan Construction Company of Waukesha, Wis., retiring on March 1, 2008, due to ill health.

Donny was a member of Operation Engineers Local 324, and the Wyandotte Hills Golf Club Men's League at Twin Lakes. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and logging. Donny was an avid Detroit Red Wings, Tigers and Lions fan.

Surviving are his wife, Terry, of Painesdale; a son, Jordan Wuorinen of Wyoming, Mich., a daughter, Jenna Wuorinen of Toivola; his mother, Leona Wuorinen of Toivola; two brothers, Dale of Toivola and Cliff of Wyoming, Mich.; three sisters, Janet (George) Schutz of Trimountain, Benjean (Tom) Tatti of Warren, Mich., Barbara (Greg) Stark of Toivola; his father and mother-in-law, Bruce and Jean Taavola of Painesdale; two brothers-in-law, Derek Taavola of Hartland, Wis., Dan (Pam) Taavola of South Range; a sister-in-law, Lyn (Eric) Sauvola of Painesdale; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Donny was preceded in death by his father, Benny, in 1997; a sister, Karol Ann; and two nephews, George and Cory Schutz.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, at the South Range Apostolic Lutheran Church with Pastor Jay Weidner to officiate.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mountain View Mortuary in South Range; and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Toivola Cemetery.
