Daniel Kotajarvi

FLORIDA LOCATION - Daniel Kotajarvi, 42, a resident of Florida Location, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2008, as a result of an accidental drowning from a boat accident.

He was born on May 21, 1966, in Laurium, a son of Kenneth and Sandra (Waisanen) Kotajarvi. Dan graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1985.

On November 13, 1992, he was married to the former Gail Bessner.

Dan currently was working at Wal-Mart in Houghton. Previously, he worked as a cook for the Backstreet Cafe and the Eagle Harbor Inn and also, at Auto Glass Specialists.

He enjoyed music, fishing, riding his Harley and most importantly, spending time with his family.

He attended the Faith Lutheran Church in Calumet.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Sandra; and a brother, Larry.

Surviving are his wife, Gail; son, William; daughters, Sarah and Rachel; father, Kenneth (Delores) Kotajarvi of Rice Lake; two brothers, Mark Kotajarvi of Florida Location, Darren (Melba) Kotajarvi of Palmer, Mich.; nieces and nephews, Kyle, Krystal, Megan, Kyle, Danielle, Stephen, Shannon, Tara, Jessica and Chelsea; grandnephew, Jayden; aunts and uncles, Matt Waisanen of Ahmeek, Marvin Waisanen of Laurium, Marion Kaipio of Boston Location, Ruth Waisanen of Chassell, Helen Waarala of Aurora, Wis., and John Waisanen of Pottstown, Penn.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet with Rev. Peter Vorhes to officiate.

Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. and one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
