Fire strikes Ontonagon

Festivities not hampered when as many as six building in village's downtown were destroyed by Sunday fire

A Fire fighter works on the remains of a fire in the Village of Ontonagon Sunday. According to Ontonagon County Deputy Sheriff Donald Lorendo, the first call about the fire was made at about 5 a.m. Sunday and eventually six buildings burned and 13 fire departments responded. Crews were still cleaning up at 6 p.m. That is all the information available at press time.
