HOUGHTON - Sounds & Motion of Houghton is doing its part to help bring cheer to needy children this holiday season with its Toys for Tots promotion.

"For every remote starter or remote starter gift certificate purchased now until Thanksgiving, we're donating $20 from our profits to Toys for Tots," owner Bryan Scott announced. "Come in and get your remote starter early to beat the rush while helping out local kids at the same time."

The Toys for Tots promotion will end Nov. 27, Thanksgiving Day.

Sounds & Motion store manager Greg Piper displays a remote starter kit at the Houghton business recently. For every remote starter or remote starter gift certificate purchased now until Thanksgiving, business owner Bryan Scott is donating $20 to Toys for Tots to benefit local children.

"Our goal is to raise the money before Thanksgiving so that we can bring a check over to the local Toys for Tots chapter. That way they can use the money locally," Bryan said, adding they didn't raise the price of the remote starters, which run $199 each, in order to offer the Toys for Tots promotion.

He said it was just his way of giving something back to the community.

"I have two kids of my own and I know how important Christmas is to them. And, I know there's a lot of needy kids in the local community," he explained. "I have donated to other organizations that benefit children but I wanted to do something more significant this year."

Gift certificates for remote starters make thoughtful gifts at Christmas, which is why Bryan is encouraging shoppers to stop in Sounds & Motion before Thanksgiving not only to avoid the rush with the first snowfall, but to participate in the promotion.

"The schedule fills up so quick after the first snow. In the past we've had appointments booked out as far as three months," he said. "Beat the rush and help out our local kids."

While Sounds & Motion specializes in remote starters, Bryan reminds customers they are also an authorized AT&T wireless dealer.

"We have lots of new phones in stock," he said. "We also stock and sell all parts and accessories."

One of the new phones on display is the sleek and stylish LG Vu.

"It's a full touch-screen phone. It's easy to use, it's durable and it's inexpensive," he said. "It's one of the coolest, hottest touch-screen phones available."

Also available at Sounds & Motion is the Samsung Propel.

"This phone is geared towards the heavy text message user with its full keyboard," Bryan said. "The biggest advantage is that it's a full keyboard phone at a very affordable price."

The Samsung Propel is available in a variety of stylish colors.

After many customers' requests, Bryan is proud to announce they now carry the Samsung Rugby.

"It's a military certified, rugged phone. It's designed for the contractor, the construction worker or for anyone who's tired of cheap, flimsy, breakable phones," he said. "It's heavy, durable, rugged construction will hold up to anyone's everyday use with ease."

The Samsung Rugby features include Bluetooth, GPS navigation and Push to Talk.

Push to Talk, Bryan said, is a new feature they're offering at Sounds & Motion.

"It allows people that have the feature to push a button and it will automatically connect to someone on their network," he explained. "It's almost like a walkie-talkie."

Sounds & Motion offers AT&T cellular customers a wide range of conveniences.

"We're a full-service AT&T dealer which means you can come in and pay your bill, make changes to your contract, renew your contract, get a new phone ... basically, we can take care of all your needs," Bryan said.

Customers who sign up for any of the new AT&T plans can also take advantage of the rollover minutes.

"Rollover minutes allow customers to get what they paid for," Bryan said. "They get to use all of their unused minutes without losing them."

They guys at Sounds & Motion pride themselves in offering excellent customer service.

"We're easy to find, along the M-26 business strip before McDonald's and there's plenty of parking," Bryan said. "We have long store hours six days a week and we have a knowledgeable, friendly staff."

Sounds & Motion will be holding a day after Thanksgiving sale, featuring deals on cell phones and car stereos, such as JVC CD players.

"We will also have great deals on satellite radio - XM and Sirius," Bryan added.

Sounds & Motion offers many great gift ideas during the holiday season, including remote starters and heated seats.

"The most popular holiday gift is a gift certificate for a remote starter," Bryan said. "Everyone loves a warm car."
