CROP Walk a big success

December 20, 2008
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

This past October, 150 walkers raised $9014.40 for hunger relief through CROP, an agency of Church World Service. Twenty five percent of these funds will be used locally to support food assistance through The Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly and the CLK Food Bank.

On behalf of the 2008 Copper Country CROP Walk, I will like to salute the churches and service organizations who made this year's walk such a success: Amazing Grace Praise Band, Albert Paine United Methodist, Calumet United Methodist, Finlandia University Student Service Team, Hancock First United Methodist, Gloria Dei Lutheran, Good Shepherd Lutheran, Grace United Methodist, Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Lambda Chi Alpha, Laurium United Methodist, Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, Portage Lake United, St. Albert's, T.O.P.S. and Trinity Episcopal.

Special thanks to funding from the Portage Health Foundation and Walmart.

Anyone interested in helping with next year's walk, please contact me at 482-2780.

Rev. Thomas Anderson

Copper Country CROP Walk Chair.
