HOUGHTON - Dorothy E. Nordstrom, 85, a former resident of the Arbor Green Apartments in Houghton, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock. She was born October 23, 1923 in Hancock, a daughter of the late Arnold and Mildred (Francis) Montangue. As a child, she moved to the Chassell area and graduated from the Chassell High School with the class of 1941. Dorothy had also resided in Hurontown and Isle Royale Location #2 before moving to the Arbor Green Apartments.
On December 23, 1944, she was united in marriage to Robert Paul Nordstrom and he preceded her in death in 1985.
Mrs. Nordstrom was a member of the Houghton Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved playing bingo, spending time with family & friends, working with crafts and volunteering with 4-H.
Preceding her in death were husband; parents; son, Robert Dennis Nordstrom; daughter, Cindy Lee Brudette; granddaughter, Kayler; grandsons, John Henry and Gary; sister, Bertha; and brothers, Harold and Bud.
Surviving are her children, James (Sharon) Nordstrom of Superior Location, Paulette (Arnie) Yrjana of Hurontown, and Barb Mattson of Superior Location; grandchildren, Lisa, Tony, Pam, Terry, Jemery, Vicky, Jody, Justin, Jess, Chris, Steph, Josh, Brandon, Haily, Evan, Missy, Anthony, Sam, Russy, Lynn, Susan, Cheryl, Robbie and Curt; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly (Tom) Crouch of Ft. Worth, Texas and her family Tommy, Liz, and Sharon; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the Plowe Funeral Home of Houghton with Pastor Isreal Ramos to officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 28, 2009, from 5 p.m. until time of services at the Plowe Funeral Home.
Dorothy's family would like to thank Dr. Janners and his staff, the staff of the Houghton County Medical Care Facility for the care given to Dorothy and also to the Plowe Funeral Home for their assistance given.
