HURONTOWN - Downtowner 2 reached a tie for the lead in Division B of the Copper Country Men's Slowpitch League after a 19-18 walk-off victory against co-leaders Team King Monday at Hurontown Field.

DT2 (5-1) put together four runs in the ninth inning for the victory. Leading the offense was Rich Sypniewski with five hits, including three triples and a home run. Dave Usitalo had a four-hit game with a double. Jared Bellmore, Tim Engman, David Negele, Tom Wakeham and Jason Miller all had three hits. Stats for Team King were not available.

McGann's/Northern Auto doubled up State Farm-Calumet 14-7, making the most of just 11 hits.

Jason Koski had two home runs in the win, while Tim Frantti, Brian Juopperi and John Sturos also added two hits apiece. Juopperi also homered.

In Division A, Antila Funeral Services (6-2) remains on top after an authoritative 30-17 win over Aire Care at Hancock Driving Park. Steve Mattson had six hits and finished a home run short of the cycle. Buddy Londo added four hits in the win.

Also at Hancock, Hillside Restaurant/ Center Ice defeated Edge Tattoos 18-12.

Joe Rivest, Kevin Tormala and Bob Wakeham were among those with three hits in a losing effort. Rivest had a double and a home run, while Scott Demske had two doubles. Stats for the winners were not submitted.

At Miller Memorial Field in Laurium, Rippa Products, Inc. held The Upper Deck to just six hits in a 17-2 rout.

Labatt's/Bucko's Party Store scored 13 times in the second inning and rolled to a 24-9 win over Mix 93/Nicholas Insurance/ D.W. Excavating.

George VanDenburg had four hits for Labatt's/Bucko's.

Aron Butkovich, Scott Hall, Matt Hampton, Charlie Kemppainen and Bill Kobe put up three hits.

Max Lesatz led Mix 93 in defeat with three hits. Lesatz and Mike Babcock homered.
