Siren leads Mountain Lakes picks
Ewen-Trout Creek's Byrne is top Porcupine Mountain seniorHOUGHTON - Lauren Siren of the undefeated Ontonagon Gladiators was chosen as Mountain Lakes Conference Most Valuable Player in results of coaches' balloting released Tuesday.
Representing Ontonagon on the All-MLC first team was senior Janele Linna.
Two Baraga Vikings were picked for the first team: seniors Paige Maskill and Rebecca Rasanen.
Rounding out the first-team selections were Lake Linden-Hubbell senior Brita Heikkinen, Ewen-Trout Creek senior Kelsey Byrne and Chassell junior Mara Ryynanen.
The Lakes put three more players on the second team: seniors Amanda McMichael and Sarah Gilreath and junior Molly Monette. They were joined by Chassell senior Sarah Antioho, Ontonagon junior Taylor Cleary and Baraga sophomore Alex Mayo.
Earning honorable mention were E-TC junior Emily Jarvi, LL-H junior Megan Budweg, Chassell's Kara Daavettila (sophomore) and Danielle Monette (junior), and Ontonagon seniors Shelby Giesau and Lisa Ruuti.
The Porcupine Mountain Conference also announced its all-conference team Tuesday, with Byrne representing E-TC as Most Valuable Senior and first-team all-conference.
E-TC junior Lacey Kaare was named to the second team and Panthers Alissa Pietila and Misty Berndt earned honorable mention.
Watersmeet won the PMC title with an undefeated 6-0 mark.
