HOUGHTON - Upper Peninsula Power Company crews were called this morning to the scene of a wide spread power outage in downtown Houghton.
The outage lasted from approximately 8 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. mainly along the north side of Shelden Avenue.
Janet Wolfe, UPPCO communications manager, said there was a fault in an underground line along Lake Shore Drive between the Suomi and Library restaurants.
"Through switching we were able to restore power to most customers," said Wolfe.
As of press time this morning, Wolfe was unsure how many customers were affected.
"It may take two days to determine the exact cause of the fault," Wolfe said.
