ALLOUEZ - Marvin L. Manninen, 66, a resident of Allouez, died on April 13, 2010.
He was born on August 12, 1942, in Allouez, a son of the late Charles and Elna (Lukima) Manninen. Marv attended Calumet High School, graduating with the Class of 1960.
Upon his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
After serving in the Air Force, Marv attended Michigan Technological University, receiving his bachelor's degree in finance and accounting.
Prior to operating his own business for the past 20 years in Calumet, Marv worked for Michigan Tech, A.O. Smith of Milwaukee and D&N Bank.
Throughout his life, he was always active in local community organizations. He was also an avid golfer and sports fan, especially following the golf and basketball career of his granddaughter.
He was married to the former Lois C. Siira on July 3, 1965.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Clayton.
Surviving are his wife, Lois; two sons, Kevin (Rhonda) Manninen of Ishpeming, David (Katherine) Manninen of Limerick, Penn.; granddaughter, Megan Manninen; brother, Kenneth (Dorothy) Manninen of Allouez; and sister, Arlene (Donald) Harvey of Cape Coral, Fla.
Marv was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 1p.m. in the National Lutheran Church on Elm and 8th Streets in Calumet with the Rev. Brian Weinkauf to officiate.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family with the arrangements.
