CALUMET - Joseph W. Eisenman, 83, a resident of Calumet and formerly of Warren, Mich., passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Our Lady of Mercy Nursing Home in Hubbell where he had been a resident since January 2008.
He was born in Centerline, Mich. on August 30, 1926, son of John and Mabel Eisenman.
Joe worked for the U.S. Postal Service, starting at age 17, in Centerline and Warren and he worked there for 37 years until his retirement.
He was united in marriage to Alice Rozmary on April 28, 1956. He lived in Warren for over 40 years until moving to Calumet with his wife in 1997 to be with his children and granddaughter.
Joe was a very loving father, grandfather and brother. When he wasn't working, he loved to spend time listening to Detroit Tigers baseball games, having cookouts, photography, gardening and playing cards. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and he loved to be outdoors with his brothers, brothers-in-law and friends. He will be remembered for his cheerful smile and his great sense of humor.
Joe was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Calumet.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; brother and sister-in-law, John and Rupane Eisenman; sister, Joan; and brothers-in-law, Ferdinand Grobbel and John Yasenchak.
He is survived by his daughter, Anne (Jerry) Tabor of Calumet; son, Paul of Laurium; and granddaughter, Veronica; brothers, Charles (Pat) Eisenman of Shelby Township and Bro. Daniel Eisenman C.P.P.S. of Carthagena, Ohio; sisters, Delores Grobbel of Warren and Lucille Yasenchak of Eastpointe; brother-in-law, Edward (Ellen) Rozmary of Davisburg, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Marie (Mike) Klim and Joanne (Larry) Doyle, both of Brevard, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Church on May 13, 2010, at 11 a.m.
Friends may call at the church from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
