DOLLAR BAY -There's a new guy on board at Dollar Bay Motor Sports and he knows a thing or two about boats.
"He's got 10 plus years of experience in boat repair," owner Jed Wuebben said of his new employee, Evan Armstrong. "He just started working with us so we want people to know we are now offering service and repair on boats."
While a lot of people may recognize Dollar Bay Motor Sports as a snowmobile shop, the guys said they'd like their customers to know of the additional products and services they can offer.
Joe Myllyoja, office manager of Dollar Bay Motor Sports, stands with the shop’s new employee, Evan Armstrong. Recently, Dollar Bay Motor Sports added boat repair to its list of services.
"Our goal is to keep our customers happy and keep them coming back," Jed added.
Located on Upper Point Mills Road, just outside Dollar Bay, the shop specializes in new and used parts and service for snowmobiles, dirt bikes, street bikes, Harleys, personal watercrafts, ATVs, UTVs, recreational vehicles, and more recently, boats.
Armstrong services all makes and models of boats and specializes in outboard motors. Pickup service is available to customers within a 25-mile radius.
Customers can order a wide variety of parts and accessories through Dollar Bay Motor Sports. Items include: Life vests, helmets, boating towables, fish and depth finders, marine batteries, water skis, knee boards, wakeboards, ropes, anchors, buoys, ATV belts, clothing and apparel, and much more.
"We usually get the order within a day or two," office manager Joe Myllyoja said. "There is free shipping on all orders."
What's nice about ordering through Dollar Bay Motor Sports, Joe said, is not only do customers get free shipping, but they can oftentimes purchase the item for a lot cheaper than what they'd find online.
"It's a good idea to check with us first before you order anything online," he said. "We'll do our best to beat any prices."
Dollar Bay Motor Sports stocks an inventory of motor oil for all recreational vehicles they service and can order tires for just about anything.
"Street bikes, off-road bikes, ATVs, UTVs, just about anything recreational," Joe said.
Dollar Bay Motor Sports is most recognized for its large inventory of used snowmobile parts and the parts are available year-round.
"Just bring it in and we'll match it up," Joe said.
Jed, who also owns his own construction company, Wuebben Construction, opened Dollar Bay Motor Sports in January, after having purchased the business from Niel Marietta. Formerly Bunker Hill Recreation, Jed purchased the business inventory and relocated the shop to Upper Point Mills.
To get to the shop from M-26, customers should turn at Quincy's Restaurant onto Main Street in Dollar Bay and travel six blocks down until reaching Hellman Avenue. Take a left on Hellman. The road curves to the right before going over a bridge. Travel over the bridge and up the hill to the left, which is Upper Point Mills Road.
"We are 1.4 miles past Quincy's," Joe added. "Look for the blue sign on the left side of the road."
Dollar Bay Motor Sports is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
