Jim Koskineimi caught a 27-1/2-inch, 8-pound walleye to win the 12-foot kayak grand prize at last year's Rice Lake Fishing derby. The popular event attracts hundreds of anglers. Rice Lake is one of the fishiest, most generous lakes in the Keweenaw, giving up liberal catches of walleye, northern, bluegills, bullheads, perch and pumpkinseeds.
