HOUGHTON - At approximately 5:20 p.m., the Portage Lake Lift Bridge opened after being stuck for nearly three hours.
It was the second time in two days the bridge had been stuck. Tuesday afternoon, the bridge was stuck for a half an hour, and officials blamed a broken electrical switch.
During today's near-three hour ordeal, emergency shelters in Houghton and Hancock were open to those who needed them.
