HOUGHTON - The Daily Mining Gazette website, mininggazette.com, received a major update Wednesday as a part of the paper's continued effort to serve the people in Houghton, Ontonagon, Baraga and Keweenaw counties.
"Readership of The Daily Mining Gazette has never been higher with the inclusion of the web edition," DMG Publisher Michael Scott said. "With that in mind, we will always do everything we can to keep it reader friendly."
The update will make the website faster, more dynamic and offer readers more interaction.
"We're really happy with the format changes we've made with our online edition," Scott said. "Many people don't like change, but this will make it easier and faster."
A revamped structure has made the website more than 50 percent faster to load, and familiar tools such as the community calendar, archives and mobile web are vastly improved.
Registration is free on the website and we invite readers to share their opinions on a wide range of topics in the new forum section.
"We're now able to offer more interaction with our readers," Scott said.
Everything readers are familiar with is still intact, including CU, local news and sports articles, polls and the obituaries.
"As we do with our print edition, we try to make things as reader friendly as we can," said Scott.
The web address remains the same, mininggazette.com, and mobile users can point their browsers to mobile.mininggazette.com for all of the same great content.
