GAYLORD - Jeffers exacted revenge for its loss to Gaylord in the consolation game of the Joe Bukovich Classic, taking down the Blue Devils 8-3 Friday night in their Division 3 Challenge.
Dano Goldsworthy and Chase Daavettila scored two goals apiece for the Jets, who were 4-for-8 on the power play.
"We practiced all week on rebound drills and things like that and I think it made a difference," Jeffers coach David Bekkala said.
The Jets took a 4-0 lead by the midway point of the second with goals by Goldsworthy, Daavettila, Jeff Aho and Travis Therrian, but let the Blue Devils back into it with a pair of goals late in the period.
"Our boys didn't give up and they recovered really well in the third," Bekkala said.
Gaylord scored shorthanded to cut the lead to one seven minutes in, but the Jets responded with four straight, including goals from Goldsworthy, Daavettila, Matt Zerbst and David Pollard.
Jeffers was also buoyed by a strong night in goal from Richard Yeshe. Bekkala called his 29-save performance one of the best he's seen in his career.
"I thought we kept the shots to the outside, and I thought we cleared the puck when we had to and Richard made some good saves," Bekkala said.
Therrian and Travis Wesa had two assists apiece for the Jets, who play East Grand Rapids today.
