HOUGHTON - Jeffers scored five goals in the opening period and went on to defeat Negaunee 8-0 in hockey action Monday night.
Travis Therrian and Travis Wesa had two goals each in the opening 17 minutes for the Jets. Both of Therrian's goals came on the power play.
The Jets scored three times with the man advantage on the night. The first of two goals by Dan Goldsworthy at the 7:02 mark of the third also came on the power play.
Therrian completed his hat trick to close out the scoring at the 9:22 mark of the third. Wesa finished with six points on the night for the Jets.
Jeffers outshot the Miners 42-9 in the contest. Negaunee never had more than four shots on goal in any period.
Dax Durocher picked up the win in net for Jeffers. Austin Rice took the loss between the pipes for Negaunee.
