Jets win fifth in a row

MILWAUKEE - Travis Therrian scored the game-winning goal at 10:13 of the third period as Jeffers beat Milwaukee SHAW 2-1 in the Wisigan Cup to earn their fifth consecutive victory.

"We've got three lines of kids playing hard. The whole team is playing hard," Jeffers coach David Bekkala said of his team's success.

Jeff Aho and goaltender Richard Yeshe drew the assists on Therrian's power-play tally, which enabled him to retake the team scoring lead with 16 goals.

He was briefly tied by Dano Goldsworthy, who scored from assists by Therrian and Cory Jokela at 8:44 of the first to make it 1-0 Jets. SHAW responded about a minute later to tie it up.

The Jets had trouble solving SHAW goalie Zach Polak, who made 31 saves, and also had overcome several second-period penalties before breaking through in the third.

Jeffers concludes the showcase by playing Monroe, Wis., today which played L'Anse Friday in a late game that was not reported. L'Anse will face SHAW today.

In the Sault Lions Tournament, Hancock dropped a 3-1 decision to Hartland. Additional information was not provided. The Bulldogs will conclude tournament play today against Sault Ste. Marie or Pontiac Notre Dame Prep.
