The Daily Mining Gazette

HOUGHTON - Jeffers got six goals from five different players to get the rout going in the first period, as the Jets went on to a 9-0 victory over the Marinette/Menominee co-operative.

Tyler Bailey got things going with a goal just 54 seconds in, and was followed by Matt Zerbst, Travis Therrian, Chase Daavettila, Zerbst again and Dano Goldsworthy as the Jets scored six times on 17 first-period shots.

Matt Mantta, Zerbst and Rick Kilpela tallied in the second period to trigger the goal-differential rule after two periods.

Dax Durocher made 15 saves to get the shutout for the Jets, who get back to the .500 mark at 10-10. Jeffers has the week off before a Feb. 14 home game with Hancock.

Therrian had three assists for Jeffers, while Kilpela and Travis Wesa recorded two apiece.
