Think Spring at Calumet Mercantile

March 30, 2011
The Daily Mining Gazette

CALUMET - Beautiful birds. Fresh floral designs. Fluffy, fuzzy bunny rabbits.

Spring is in full bloom at Calumet Mercantile.

"Everything is just so pretty," co-owner Donna Bausano said of their new inventory. "It's meant to put a smile on your face."

Inside the store, located on Fifth Street in Calumet, shoppers will find gift items in soft pinks, greens and yellows - a refreshing spring treat after a long Copper Country winter.

The new floral-themed baskets in sunny yellow tulips and soft lavenders make a thoughtful gift for any adult during the Easter holiday. Complete with hand soap, bar soap and a flour sack towel, the gift set makes for a perfect housewarming gift.

"I can see the basket sitting in someone's kitchen filled with all sorts of stuff," Donna said.

The flour sack towels vary in size and patterns, and some include a recipe on the back. Some are in cherry and strawberry pie themes while others depict rabbits holding colorful Easter eggs. Along with the gift baskets, flour sack towels add a soft touch to any kitchen.

For the kids Easter basket, choose from their wheelbarrow of fluffy bunnies and bears. Or choose from a wide selection of holiday-themed books. Top it off with colorful candy from the candy barrels.

Also in time for spring is a new collection of recipe books, unique tea mugs, and elegant stationary items. The stationary features delicate ribbons, sparkling gems and fresh floral patterns.

"There's nothing in here you need to live on," Donna said. "It's just fun, pretty, or it tastes good."
