Copper Harbor event helps kids

April 14, 2011
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

The 6th Annual "Run-for-Fun" was held in Copper Harbor February 18-20, 2011.

Though the high winds blew, this year's event was even more successful than last year. With more registered sleds on display and an increase in the number of people who joined us on the ride and for the other scheduled activities, our contribution to Sheriff Ron Lahti's "No Kids In Keweenaw Without a Christmas" surpassed last year's.

None of this would have been possible without our sponsors and volunteers so, a big thank you to each of our veteran sponsors, Peterlin Distributing, Inc., Dan's Auto and Recreation (formerly Dan's Polaris), and The Mariner North along with our two new sponsors, Calumet Machine, Inc. and Superior Block Co. Also, our gratitude to M&M Power Sports for donating the use of the Arctic Cat ATV with tracks for grooming.

Also, major thank yous to all of our good friends and families. As with any event, its success can only be measured by the energy put forth by those who volunteer their time and talents: Andy Diestler; Eliza Stevens and friends; Jack Smith, Jr.; Becky and Joe Blaser; Shawn and Wendy Tingley; Jes and Nick Bracco; BJ Gariepy; Cabby Koski & friends; Kerri and Tim Sleeman; Roger Perreault; Aaron Rogers; Phil Roth and Family; Eric Kurth; Peggy and Don Kauppi; Cheryl Kudlaczyk; Sheriff Ron Lahti; The Mariner 'Crew'; Dale Cornelli; Marge Canfield; The Tamarack Inn; Carol Meihlan; Scott and Carrie Meneguzzo (trophy design) and Calumet Machine (trophy materials).

If we have inadvertently overlooked someone who should be thanked, please know that your contribution was very much appreciated.
