CALUMET - The Keweenaw Convention and Visitors Bureau has a new website, which organization members think is a vast improvement over its predecessor.

Dianne Peterson, KCVB vice president, said the new website, which was created by the Marketing Department in Houghton, has been online about two months.

The need for revamping of the old website, which was created about two years ago, Peterson said, was to make it easier to use, and it seems to be working.

The new Keweenaw Convention and Visitors Bureau website is seen in this screen shot. The website is designed to be easier to use and have more photographs of activities and businesses.

"We're getting found more and more," she said.

Among other things, Peterson said the new website - keweenaw.info - includes listings for local activities, events and businesses.

"(Users) can search by business or area," she said.

The redesign of the website includes more and better photographs of activities and businesses, Peterson said.

It's possible, also, to download the KCVB brochure from the website, Peterson said.

Peterson, who manages the AmericInn in Calumet Township, said she knows the new website is working well for that business.

"We get a lot of referrals from that," she said.

Comments from people staying at the motel about the website indicate it's working as planned.

Peterson said she's heard from people who are impressed by a specific feature of the website.

"They love to look at the pictures," she said.

Now that the website has been redesigned, Peterson said it will be updated regularly.

"This is an ongoing thing," she said.

Peterson said she's really pleased with the new KCVB website, and she thinks it will help the organization and its users.

"Compared to the old one, it's so much easier to use," she said. "It's really an attention-grabber."
