Gertrude Sherbarth

PETOSKEY, Mich. - Gertrude Sherbarth, 96, a former resident of Houghton, passed away on December 22, 2011, at the Bortz Medical Facility in Petoskey where she had been a resident since 2010.

She was born April 25, 1916, in Houghton, a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Shaaf) Manderfield.

Gertrude was a graduate of Houghton High School and St. Joseph School of Nursing in Hancock.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sisters, Lucille Lenz and Eva Steinmetz; and her brothers, Servie, Edmund, Martin, John and Francis.

Surviving are her son, Gordon of Charlevois; her granddaughter, Julie; her brothers, Fr. Paul Manderfield of Nicaragua, David (Bette) Manderfield of Royal Oak; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The remains have been cremated and burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.
