CALUMET - Three- and four-part vocal harmonies will serenade those looking for a romantic night out at the Calumet Theatre Tuesday.
A special Valentine's Day concert will commence at 7:30 p.m. featuring Marrakesh Express - A Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young Experience. The only touring CSNY tribute band, the eight-piece group faithfully reproduces the feel of a Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young show.
"They're dedicated to reproducing the really difficult three- and four-part harmonies the band had," said Davey Holmbo, artistic/technical director with the Calumet Theatre. "They play many songs, including the acoustic and electric songs, and it's a good fit for the theatre."
Marrakesh Express features four vocalists and a full backing band, making for a unique concertgoing experience.
"It's a rock show but not really a super loud and crazy rock show," Holmbo said.
A variety of CSNY songs will be played at the concert, from the widely recognized "Teach Your Children" and "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" to deeper cuts from the CSNY catalog. Marrakesh Experience has played to tens of thousands of fans over the years, including a headlining gig at the Woodstock 40th Anniversary Tribute Concert.
"We've always had great success with some of the tribute shows," Holmbo said. "Our audience seems to like them and it's a perfect fit for Valentine's Day.
"It's going to sound really good to have the musicians onstage."
