Benefit a success

February 18, 2012
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of the people who pulled together to make the benefit a huge success, especially my sister Carol Sickler and my niece Jessie Spelich. What an overwhelming turnout.

I would like to thank Vollwerth's and The White House for donating the food for the spaghetti dinner and a location to hold the benefit, and all of the people who donated bakery.

Also, a special thanks to all of the people who attended or volunteered to work the benefit, whether it was serving food, selling tickets and bakery.

I realize what a great place this is to live and how the community really pulls together when someone is in need.

Thanks goes out to these local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle table: Keweenaw Critters, The Hut Inn, Birdseye Creations, The Drift Inn, Marlene's Marykay, Slim's Caf, Keweenaw Specialty Woods, Jessie's Marykay, Mohawk Sand and Gravel, Spirit of the North, Tamarack Inn, Mohawk Superette, Connie's, The Breezeway Sandy Lindblom, People's Choice, Bucko's Party Store, 31 Gifts Kara Destrampe, Zumba Adria Laplander, Partylite Angie Piche, Cliff View, Brian Sickler and Marlene Dukart, 41 Lumber, Michigan Tech Material Science and Engineering Department, Harter's Party Store, Copper World, AmericInn, Dan Riutta Sales, Favorites Silk Screening and Embroidery, Beth Ruohonen, my mom Marge Mattila, Scentsy Amy Garrow, Peterlin Distributing, Superior Rent-All, Linda Kiviniemi, McCabe Distributing, Keweenaw Lions, and Bethany Lutheran Church.
