Tower design help

March 29, 2012
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

I am fortunate enough to live near a cell phone tower, but I realize some of our neighbors may not feel the same. I am wondering if the antenna design class at Michigan Tech could offer some suggestions on how future towers could be made to blend in with the foliage, maybe look like pine trees. It might take four 50-foot green pine-like towers to give the same coverage as one 90-foot tower, but the landscape might be nicer.
