To the editor:
We have loved to vacation in the Upper Peninsula since 1990. (There are) wonderful people and (it is a) great place to relax by the lake. But sad times have arrived this year - gas prices. We paid for gas until February this year for last year's vacation trip.
Now this year, the gas is even higher. Our hearts are sad and we will really miss the U.P. this summer. Gas Prices: No pipeline, behind drilling and oil production in the coastal areas, no drilling on public lands and only ahead on privately owned lands.
Down here in Iowa, we will remember the U.P. at election day in November. We hope you will remember that your businesses lost about $700 in vacation money, not counting the rent of our fifth wheel. Sorry.
