COLDWATER, Mich. - William G. Naneville, 80, of Coldwater, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
Bill was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Iron Mountain to George W. and Lempi M. (Helbacka) Naneville. He was raised in the U.P. and worked in the copper mines there.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, earning two bronze stars and several other service medals. After military service, he spent several years in Butte, Mont., where he operated a janitorial service.
Bill moved to Coldwater in 1965 and began working for Midwest Foundry. After nearly 30 years at the foundry, it closed and Bill went to work for UCOM, Inc. in Orland, Ind.
He married Harriet Sandberg on Aug. 11, 1966, in Angola, Ind. She preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 2006.
Bill will be remembered for being a family man and wonderful father to his children. He was hardworking, honest as they came and was a man of integrity. He always provided for his family and was very self-sufficient.
He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and tinkering in the garage.
Bill is survived by his sons, Larry (Laura Young) Bowling of Hillsdale, Ed (Shelly Dyer) Bowling and Doug and Trish Bowling, all of Coldwater; daughters, Lisa McLatcher (Glenn Gregory) and Jean (Curtis) Anderson both of Coldwater; sister, Delores (David) Day of Jefferson City, Mo.; grandchildren, Patty Walkins, Nicole and Sara Bowling, Brandon Dyer, Ryan Bowling, Audrianna and Allison Anderson and Andrew McLatcher; great-grandchildren, Braydon, Chase, Austin and Teirrah Watkins.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Patty Gale Bowling in 1964; his brothers, Alfred and Wendell Naneville.
A service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at 1 p.m. in the Dutcher Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of services.
