Lawrence G. Coffey

SOUTH RANGE - Lawrence G. Coffey, 87, a resident of South Range, died on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Greenland, Mich., on Jan. 21, 1925, a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Moudrey) Coffey and was a 1942 graduate of Mass City High School.

Lawrence was employed for 42 years by J&A Penegor Lumber Company.

On Feb. 8, 1947, he married the former Dorothy L. Raffaelli in South Range. She preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 1990.

Lawrence was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in South Range and a former member of the South Range Eagles Aerie 1122.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a fan of the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers. He loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are his children: Paulette (Craig) Lindquist of Brandon Twp., Mich., Daniel (Patti) Coffey of South Range, Lauren Cappaert of Menominee and Carol Coffey of Negaunee Twp.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides his parents and wife, Lawrence was also preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Holy Family Catholic Church in South Range with Fr. John Martignon as celebrant. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice in Lawrence's name.

Arrangements are being handled by the Mountain View Mortuary in South Range, Antila Funeral Service, Inc.
