Vets presentation valuable

May 19, 2012
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

On behalf of the board of directors of Omega House, I would like to thank all of those who participated in and otherwise made possible the We Honor Vets presentation by Drs. Jerry and Michael Luoma April 24.

Dr. Jerry Luoma served in Vietnam and his son, Dr. Michael Luoma, served in Iraq. Their insight into the end-of-life needs of veterans was extremely valuable to all those who provide hospice care.

I want to thank Finlandia University for providing the use of the auditorium at the Finnish American Heritage Center. The Chassell VFW Ladies Auxiliary 6507 provided refreshments and the Marine Corps League Detachment 1016 served as honor guard.

Thank you all for helping make this event a success.

We need volunteer veterans. Anyone interested in volunteering at Omega House should call 482-4438. We are always looking for volunteers.
