To the editor:
The Copper Country Great Start Collaborative would like to thank all who participated in our 4th Annual Bridge Walk on May 16. It was a beautiful, sunny evening and we had more than 100 people take part in the walk and activities at the park.
The Bridge Walk coincides with a statewide initiative known as Star Power which celebrates parents, teachers, advocates and community members who support Michigan's young children. The events are held to highlight the importance of investing in early childhood and to offer opportunities to connect with legislators.
This annual, family-friendly event wouldn't be possible without support from volunteers and community partners who donated goods and services, as well as time, to make the Bridge Walk a success. We'd like to thank the following businesses and organizations for their generous donations: Pat's Foods and Festival Foods; the Ramada Inn Hancock; 5th & Elm Coffee Shop and Eatery; McDonalds; the City of Houghton; Portage Health; Freeman Photography and Superior AmeriCorps Members.
Thanks to all who support this important cause; we hope to see you again next year.
SHELLY SMITH, Director
