Ben Storm and Carla Helminen were named the top senior male and female athletes of the year at a ceremony in Calumet High School Thursday morning. Storm was presented with the George Gipp Award, while Helminen received the Holly Jean McCullah Award. Storm played four sports over his high school career and was named the U.P. Defensive Player of the Year for football, a first in Calumet history. Helminen was a three-sport athlete who served as captain of the basketball team her junior and senior seasons.
