Miller's honors bowling champs

LAURIUM?- Miller's Recreation of Laurium is recognizing its stars of the 2011-12 bowling season.

The Champions of the Lanes were the Root Notes of the Sunday Night Mixed League:?Kathy Allen, Dan Stahl, John Snyder,?Steve Loukus and subs Bonnie Allen and Tim Stahl.

King of the Lanes was Tony Mihelich and Queen of the Lanes Jessie Wilks.

The Hut, composed of Shawn MacDonald, Howard Blake, Mike Loukus and Bob Anttila, won the Monday Open league.

Laurium Fire Department won the Tuesday Ladies League. Members are Jane Bastion, Pat Fausone, Kathy Mukavetz, Dotti Abe and Linda Kiviniemi.

Coca-Cola won the Wednesday's men's league with team members Jim Newman, Josh Kesanen, Jim Therrian, Adam Weidner, Jay Monticello, Dave Monticello and Joe Rivest.

Bucko's Party Store was champion of the Thursday men's league. Bucko's is composed of Brad Carlson, George Vandenburg, Kevin Antilla, Aron Butkovich, Mike Oja and Phil Dlubala.

The Friday Open league was won by NuStar Insurance:?Jim Therrian,?Greg Salo, Tom Elliot, Tony Mihelich, Glenn Johnson and Kim Johnson.

Fred Lenten, George Butala, Nancy Kubin and Elmer Dixon, the Red Wings, won the Monday senior league.

Scott Gipp set a new house high series of 818.

Butkovich had three 300 games this season, while Oja, Mihelich, Weidner, Therrian and Gipp had one apiece.

Johnson set the high series of 676, followed by Wilks's 660 and Amy Klinghammer's 652.

Johnson threw the high game for women, a 256, while Wilks had a 255.

Gipp had the season high average of 228 among men, while Johnson averaged 194.

In the youth league, Jon Kesanen threw a 552 series and Mark Musiel a 507. Kesanen also had a 259 game.
