Food drive helps children

June 2, 2012
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

The Hancock St. Vincent de Paul conference would like to thank the Curves organization for their donation of hundreds of pounds of food for the shelves of our food pantry. Also, we would say another big thank you to all the U.S. mail handlers in the area who donated food from their food drive.

Any food donation can be dropped off at the St. Vincent de Paul store in Hancock.

Store hours are Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and reduced Saturday hours.

Again, thank you to the Curves organization, U.S. mail handlers, the Holy Family Church Youth Group of South Range and the Little Huskies Organization of Houghton.

We are very grateful for your donation of food, your time and your energy.

Fact Box

The Daily Mining Gazette welcomes letters to the editor from readers.

Letters should be signed and include name, address and telephone number. Names will not be withheld and letters should be no longer than 400 words. No personal attacks. Writers are limited to one letter per month. The Gazette reserves the right to edit letters for length, as well as for spelling and punctuation.

Mail letters to: Letters to the Editor, The Daily Mining Gazette, P.O. Box 368, Houghton, MI 49931. Letters may also be e-mailed to lholcombe@mininggazette.com or submitted on the Gazette's Web site, mininggazette.com, by clicking on "Submit News."

With school not in session, no hot lunch or school breakfast and children home all day, the need seems even greater in the summertime.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

May God Bless you.
