HOUGHTON - North Pointe Trucking scored eight times in the first inning and held on for a 22-16 Copper Country Slowpitch League win over Lakes Dairyland Monday at Hurontown.
Darick Coponen, Brent Jurmu and Nate Sturos all had four-hit games, while Darren Kinnunen, Ross Kinnunen and Kent Larson posted three.
For Dairyland, Charlie Frederick was the leading hitter with five singles.
Allen Klutts, Bill Bastion and Doug Jacques posted four-hit games, Kevin LaRoux, Jason Wilks and Jerry Wilks all had three.
Northern Concrete claimed a 30-17 win over Dairyland in the early game behind four hits (two home runs) from Bryan LaChappelle. Ben Potter also homered, was a single short of the cycle, and was part of a four-hit group including Alex Elsenheimer, Ethan Shaver, Eric Stage and Nelson Wienke. Garrett Byrne, Pat Carroll and Frank Vruwink added three hits apiece.
Jacques was 4-for-5 for Dairyland, while Jason Wilks, LaRoux and Klutts posted three hits apiece.
Center Ice topped Rippa Products 14-9, scoring six of its runs in the first inning. Ben Steber was 4-for-5 with a double for the winners. Logan Frantti, Keith Halonen, Jason Johnson and Devin Sturos all notched three hits.
For Rippa, Ben Loukus was 3-for-4 with two triples.
Downtowner 2 defeated Erickson-Crowley/Osmose 15-8. Erik Nettell went 4-for-4 and homered twice, while Ryan Makela went 4-for-4 with four singles.
Adam Kerry was 3-for-4 with a triple in defeat. Andy Bourdeau and Hans Klein also had three-hit games.
Erickson-Crowley/Osmose scored eight times in the ninth inning but couldn't get past Miller's Recreation, 22-18.
Stats were not available for the winners, but Steve Lacourt and Raymond Tuominen led the winners with four hits apiece. Brian Turner, Kerry, Tony Herbert and Bourdeau all had three.
