KINGSFORD - The winning streak ended at eight for the Hancock Post 186 American Legion baseball team Saturday with a doubleheader split against Kingsford.

Hancock took the first game of the twinbill 3-2 in extra innings before losing a 2-1 decision in game two.

In the opener, Hancock tied the game at 2 in the fifth inning on a Tyler LaDuron RBI single and Luke Paul's sacrifice fly.

Darren Bausano drove in the winning run in extra innings on his hit scoring Travis Tollefson, who walked and was sacrificed over to third.

Paul allowed one earned run on eight hits. He struck out six and walked two.

Hancock led 1-0 in the fourth inning after Paul singled and scored on Kris Turunen's hit.

"Kingsford has a really strong hitting squad, but I thought the 1-0 lead might be enough with Tyler LaDuron pitching a one-hitter through four innings. In the end, I think the long day caught up with us," Hancock manager Nels Paul said.

Six Hancock players also competed in the U.P. Track and Field Finals earlier that day.

Kingsford took the lead for good on a two-out double in the fifth inning.

LaDuron allowed two earned runs on seven hits, striking out seven and walking two.

Hancock (9-4, 5-3 Mid-Pen League) is at the Marquette Reds Saturday for a non-league doubleheader.
