Portage Lake Lift Bridge inspections beginning this week may result in traffic delays. The bridge will be inspected on a structural, mechanical and electrical basis, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation website. The work is expected to continue through Thursday. From 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. today through Thursday, there will be intermittent lane closures and the bridge will open frequently. Traffic will be taken down to one lane in each direction. Also during that period, boaters needing the bridge to be raised will be required to give 30 minutes advance notice.
