LAURIUM - Wendell J. Paull, 96, a resident of Iroquois St., Laurium, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 3, 2012, following a short illness.
Wendell was born in Copper City on Aug. 29, 1915, a son of James and Mae (Crothers) Paull.
Wendell was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Amphibian Engineers during WWII.
On Aug. 31, 1942, he married the former Jean Verran of Hancock.
He was employed by Atlas Powder Company for many years.
A devout Christian, Wendell was a lifelong member of the Laurium United Methodist Church and the Copper Country Chapter 27 D.A.V.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Viola (Paull) Maierle; a nephew, Wendell (Sharon) Maierle.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Jean; a nephew, James (Janice) Maierle; cousins, Pat Sharrad of North Carolina and Katherine Mankee of Marquette; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wendell will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who loved tinkering with cars and visiting family and friends. He received many visitors from across the country and England.
Private funeral services will be held in the Laurium United Methodist Church on Wednesday with the Rev. Bob White and Rev. Ken Toth to officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
The Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet is assistig the family with arrangements.
