Martha Siirtola

LAURIUM - Martha Siirtola, 88, a resident of Laurium and most recently a resident of Cypress Manor in Hancock, passed away on Saturday evening, June 2, 2012.

Martha was born February 13, 1924, in Boston Location, Franklin Township, the daughter of Gustaf and Selma (Annala) Siirtola. She attended the Boston School and lived in Boston Location until 1947 when she moved to Detroit. She moved back to Boston Location in 1951, living there until her move to Laurium in 1971.

Martha was a member of the Laurium Apostolic Lutheran Church, and for many years she was an active volunteer at Still Waters Elders Home.

She was always faithful to visit her friends who were hospitalized. Martha enjoyed numerous conversations with her many friends and acquaintances whenever she was in town.

Martha was preceded in death by four sisters, Sigrid, Esther, Signe and Linnea; six brothers, Felix, Walter, Armas, Emil, Edward and Rudy.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 10 at 2 p.m. in the Laurium Apostolic Lutheran Church with Pastor Travis Seppala officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.

The Erickson Crowley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
