To the editor:
On behalf of the Houghton County Memorial Airport, I would like express my sincere appreciation to all who were involved in our triennial disaster drill at the airport May 30.
We would like to thank all local volunteer fire departments, first responders and other emergency personnel for their hard work, dedication and sacrifice that they've put into the long hours of training.
They are: Calumet Township, Quincy Franklin, Boston, Dollar Bay, Tamarack, and Laurium fire departments; Bootjack, Chassell, Adams, and Allouez Township first responders; Mercy EMS, Houghton County Sheriff's Department, Michigan State Police and the American Red Cross.
We appreciate their support of the airport. Without them, a number of things would not be possible.
We would also like to say thank you to the local businesses in the area - Ferrellgas, Domino's Pizza, McDonald's, Pepsi Cola of Houghton and Subway - for donating resources for the drill.
