MARQUETTE - The Hancock Post 186 American Legion baseball team claimed a quartet of road victories in Marquette County over the weekend.
Hancock (13-4, 7-3 Mid-Pen League) downed the Ishpeming Blue Storm 3-0 and 7-2 on Saturday in Mid-Pen League play, then wiped out the Marquette Reds 18-5 and 24-0.
In the first Ishpeming game, Kris Turunen threw a complete-game five-hitter with six strikeouts and a walk. Dax Durocher had a pair of hits, while Travis Tollefson had Hancock's lone RBI.
In game two, Tyler LaDuron was the star, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs at the plate and allowing just four hits in a complete game on the mound. He struck out 11, walked four and allowed two earned runs.
Alex VanWagner also had a multi-hit game, while Trent Keteri drove in two runs.
Sunday against the Reds, LaDuron was 4-for-5 with a grand slam in game one. Jari Sague (3-for-4, 3 RBIs), Beau Dupuis (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) and Darren Bausano (1-for-3, 2 RBIs) all drove in multiple runs.
Mike Saari was the winning pitcher, allowing four earned runs on four hits in 3 2/3 innings. He struck out five and walked five.
In game two, Troy Kinnunen went 4-for-5 with an RBI, while Saari, Tollefson, Keteri and Brady Turner had two hits apiece. Tollefson was the winning pitcher.
Hancock will play in a tournament next weekend at Waupun, Wis. The first of three pool play games is Friday at 5:30 p.m. EDT against Beaver Dam, Wis.
