To the editor:
I would like to congratulate the Jeffers Jets boys and girls golf teams for their outstanding performance at the Division 3 U.P. Championships recently held in Escanaba and Gladstone. The boys' team finished first and are the U.P. Champions and the girls' team finished 2nd for the third time in the past four years and are the U.P. runner-up.
This is really an outstanding result for such a small school to dominate U.P. golf the ways that these kids have. We get late springs in the Copper Country and our kids' home course (Wyandotte Hills) is considered a shorter course, especially when compared to the courses that the teams competed on in Gladstone and Escanaba. Not only are these kids great golfers but they are great people as well. Coach Jason Koski does a super job with these student-athletes and he also needs to be recognized for what he has done with the Jeffers golf program.
Hats off to both teams for representing their school, home course and community so very well. We should all be so proud of these kids and their coach. When you see any of them, give them a pat on the back and thank them for representing us so well.
